Novo Coffee
Espresso Novo
Espresso Novo is a great and momentous discovery! With smooth notes of caramel, banana, and a nutty finish, this is one of the most complex and remarkable espressos ever! Herb Brodsky and his sons Jake and Joseph are a remarkable family. To Herb every cup is like a song… a Bob Dylan song. He’s part hitchhiking poet, part bohemian writer. Jake, a scientist of coffee operations, obsesses on coffee perfection, getting primo beans from his brother Joseph, their world-traveling sourcer. They treat coffee like fine wine, so beautifully presented, even their packaging looks like a fancy gift. There is good crema and Karma in every sip of this amazing and tantalizing Espresso.

Atomic Coffee Roasters
Black Velvet
This dark roasted velvety masterpiece from Massachusetts roaster John Mahoney’s Atomic Café is an exotic mix of beans sourced from Papua New Guinea (PA-poo-Y nyoo GIN-ee) and Costa Rica. The mix is quite wonderful because it produces such a rich yet clean and refreshingly smooth cup. The smokiness never overpowers. Dark roast lovers rejoice! Brewed hot or cold, it can be sipped all day long. It’s an east coast/ west coast brokerage house customer favorite and one of mine too.

Klatch Coffee
Panama Elida Natural Catuai
Don your white woven Panama hat and recline in your Sarchi chair. That perfect summertime coffee has arrived! Mike at Klatch coffee has done it again with this phenomenal naturally processed Panama coffee. Panama Elida Natural is not your typical coffee. It is almost like a Geisha type coffee but for a considerably lower price. This beauty produces wonderful sweet berries and floral notes. It has a berryish chocolatey body with a bit of boysenberry and guava. It finishes with an almost banana aftertaste. It is currently the number one favorite coffee of Klatch team member Nzo right now. I have to agree, it is one not to miss.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters
Bird Rock Blend
Bird Rock's signature,"Bird Rock Blend" has what it takes to be a great and classic cup that I will now lean on as a go-to favorite. I love how the chocolate tones transform into a thick and gooey, candy-fudge-like finish. Yum! The Sumatra and Ecuadorian beans are wonderfully combined and orchestrated by roast maestro Charles Patton, the 2012 Micro-Roaster of the year. His commitment to excellence is unwavering. He personally travels to origin, conducting a world-wide search to select the specific beans that will produce the flavor profile he plans to create, then after returning home, Charles "dials it in" through various test roasts and numerous cuppings until he achieves that perfect balance and harmonious tonality he sought and now has brought to the cup. This robust, medium-dark roast is a stellar offering! If you have not had Bird Rock yet, order this and taste why the crew from La Jolla, California are 2012's top award winners.

Equator Coffees
French Roast Fair Trade Organic
I recently received a saucy love letter from Genevieve, a French woman who invited me to New Orleans for an amazing cup of coffee; a coffee that she promised I would never forget. Always up for a little Cajun spice in my life, I jumped a flight to the Big Easy. The fact that Genevieve lived off the beaten path and in the middle of a swamp did not dissuade me. I was on a quest to return with this treasure of coffee. I boarded a boat early evening and reclined as my Row Master, Fidel, paddled me through the Bayou. The humid mist created an air of mystery, which heightened my sense of anticipation. I closed my eyes and envisioned this French Beauty and her promise to serve up a deep, dark, oily, smoky and chocolaty cup of love. Fidel whispered cautiously, “I see it, Professor, it’s just up ahead." Fireflies illuminated her home amongst the wild vines and thick foliage. We approached her somewhat rickety boat landing. As I stepped from the boat onto the dock that creaked and swayed, the fireflies led the way to Genevieve’s doorway and to this French Beauty, who greeted me with a French press in hand. “Bonjour, Professor Peaberry, Café?” She purred as she poured a cup. I sipped this brew, one that I had traveled thousands of miles to try -- “Oui, oui. Très bon. Magnifique!” I declared. Yes, indeed - Earth tone and tropical wood filled my senses. The coffee was truly French, smoky, yet fruity and exotic with Latin American, Indonesian and African beans all in the mix! Genevieve stared deep into my eyes and continued to pour me more. I felt a little uneasy in the Big Easy… Perhaps I was hypnotized? Suddenly tribal drums filled my ears. Entranced, I began to dance for her. I swayed my hips and then hopped on one foot! It was a bit embarrassing, I must say. Indeed I was her puppet! My head was spinning. I smelled smoke. I looked to my French lovely and fire filled her eyes! I mean fire! Suddenly an alligator lurched out of the shadows and appeared by her side. Snap! SNAP! Oh, yes, something was wrong! As I fled for the door, I snatched the bag of coffee beans from which she had brewed this amazing cup of coffee. Her alligator chased me and continually snapped at my heels as I raced to the boat. Fidel was waiting. Fully caffeinated, I pushed him aside and took the oars. I rowed away with speed and haste, leaving the enraged French Voodoo Princess, Genevieve, and her alligator far behind. What a close call. I was thankful to get out alive and with my bachelorhood intact! All parts accounted for... What a dangerous ordeal finding the best coffee had become. I wondered what the wonderful coffee was that entranced me. I flipped the bag around and discovered it was my beloved Equator - Alligator French! Who needs to leave home for a little action? The Equator Alligator French Roast will surely help put a little adventure in your cup!
