Story

Triangle Accent

Fazenda Terra Alta was born in 2010, when Paulo and Juliana Piancastelli left their corporate lives behind and searched for greener pastures. They started planting in 2011 and have produced high scoring and award winning coffees since their first harvest in 2013.

We first partnered with Paulo and Juliana in 2017. In the few short years they have been in the specialty coffee industry, they have put together an expert production team, planted high quality coffee varietals, and implemented innovative processing methods.

Their product is impressive, and to ensure it’s cared for post-harvest, Paulo and Juliana have built an independent importing/exporting structure that supports the Direct Trade model fully. They are in complete control of the coffee during shipment, and are selective about which warehouses receive their coffees.

About Peaberries

In a coffee cherry, typically you can expect to find two seeds with a flat side facing each other. But in each harvest approximately 5-10% of the production are peaberries that occur when just one of the ovules is pollinated, developing a single round coffee seed. These rounded seeds are sorted and separated during the post-harvest using a sieve. The peaberries are uniform in size and density allowing for a consistent application of heat during the roasting process that translates into a flavorful and highly sought after cup profile.
